Features

Everything a modern IPTV player should do

Built from scratch for iOS with the features power users expect from a TV-grade player, minus the clutter.

Live TV with groups & favorites

Browse thousands of channels by group, search instantly, pin favorites and hide the channels you never watch. Swipe to zap between channels.

Real EPG program guide

A grid-style TV guide powered by XMLTV or Xtream EPG, with now/next info on every channel, program details and progress bars.

Catch-up TV

Missed the match? Jump back into programs from the last few days when your provider supports catch-up (timeshift) — straight from the guide.

Movies & series

Xtream VOD libraries with posters, ratings, seasons and episodes. Resume where you left off and auto-play the next episode.

Two playback engines

Apple's native player for HLS plus a VLC-based engine for raw MPEG-TS, AC3/EAC3 audio and stubborn streams. Zaptun picks the right one automatically.

Parental controls

Lock any group or category behind a 4-digit PIN. Locks re-apply when the app goes to the background.

Picture in Picture & AirPlay

Keep watching while you use other apps, or send the stream to your Apple TV with one tap.

Audio & subtitle tracks

Switch languages and subtitles on the fly, set a sleep timer, and keep playing audio in the background.

Multiple playlists

Add as many M3U URLs or Xtream accounts as you like. See account expiry and connection limits for Xtream logins.

Up and running in under a minute

Zaptun never asks you to sign up. Bring the playlist you already pay for.

Plays what other iOS players can't

Most IPTV apps on iPhone rely only on Apple's AVPlayer, which rejects many raw MPEG-TS streams and silently mutes AC3 or EAC3 audio. Zaptun ships a second, VLC-based engine and switches to it automatically, so the streams that fail elsewhere just play.

  • HLS (.m3u8), MPEG-TS, MP4, MKV containers
  • H.264 / H.265 video, AAC, AC3, EAC3, MP3 audio
  • Automatic reconnect with exponential backoff
  • Per-playlist engine memory: Zaptun remembers what worked

Private by design

There are no Zaptun servers. Your playlists, passwords, favorites and viewing history are stored only on your device. The app connects to exactly one place: the provider you entered.

  • No account or e-mail required
  • No analytics, tracking or advertising SDKs
  • Purchases handled by Apple; we never see your payment details
  • Delete the app and everything is gone

Frequently asked questions

Short answers about what Zaptun is — and isn't.

Does Zaptun include any TV channels?

No. Zaptun is a media player, like VLC or Kodi but purpose-built for IPTV. It contains no channels, movies or subscriptions. You add the M3U playlist or Xtream Codes login you already have from your own provider.

Is Zaptun an IPTV service or subscription?

No. We do not sell, provide, recommend or link to any IPTV service. Zaptun is only the app that plays content from a source you supply.

Which playlist formats are supported?

M3U and M3U8 playlists (URL), Xtream Codes API logins (server, username, password), and XMLTV EPG files (.xml or .xml.gz) for the program guide.

Is it as capable as the big Android TV players?

Yes. Zaptun brings the same class of experience to iOS: grid EPG, side channel list, groups and favorites, catch-up, parental PIN, multiple playlists and a dual playback engine.

Why do some streams play in Zaptun but not in other iOS apps?

Many iOS players only use Apple's AVPlayer, which does not support raw MPEG-TS over HTTP or AC3/EAC3 audio. Zaptun includes a second VLC-based engine and switches automatically.

Does Zaptun collect my data?

No. There are no Zaptun servers, accounts, analytics or ads. Playlists and credentials stay on your device. The only network connections go to your provider and, for purchases, to Apple and RevenueCat (purchase validation).

Is there a free trial?

No trial, but the weekly plan is a low-cost way to test Zaptun with your playlist. If it doesn't fit, simply don't renew.

Can I use one purchase on my iPhone and iPad?

Yes. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID. Install Zaptun on your other device and tap Restore Purchases.

Does Zaptun run on Apple TV or Android?

Zaptun is currently available for iPhone and iPad. Android and Android TV versions are in development.

Does Zaptun support catch-up / timeshift?

Yes, when your provider exposes catch-up (Xtream timeshift or M3U catchup tags). Programs with catch-up are marked in the guide.

Your playlist. A better player.

Install Zaptun, paste your playlist and watch. No sign-up, no ads, nothing to configure on a server.
